Lacock village is owned almost in its entirety by the National Trust and attracts many visitors by virtue of its unspoiled appearance and is the birthplace of modern photography.
The area has been settled since Neolithic times and during the Roman period had two villas the primary one in the centre of Box and the other at Ditteridge.
Corsham has provided the backdrop in numerous films and TV dramas including The Suspicions of Mr Whicher, Tess of the D’Urbervilles and The Remains of the Day.
Colerne is a parish with a population of about 3000, and has a thriving community with an excellent primary school and numerous clubs and activities.
